Walter Pelton represents clients involved in complex commercial litigation matters.
Before joining Bodman, he served for more than three years as a law clerk, first to Justice David F. Viviano and then to Justice Brian K. Zahra of the Michigan Supreme Court. As a law clerk he gained extensive experience analyzing constitutional, statutory, and common-law issues, including Fourth Amendment search and seizure, employment discrimination, statutes of limitation, and mens rea requirements.
As a law student at the University of Chicago Law School, Walter served as a Staff Member of the Chicago Legal Forum. He also served as Vice President of the student chapter of the Federalist Society and chaired the Federalist Society’s Joseph Story Award Committee.
As an undergraduate at Michigan State University—James Madison College, Walter was Vice President of the International Relations Organization and served as a Committee Chair for the MSU Model United Nations Conference. He also served as an intern with the Michigan Office of Attorney General—Consumer Protection Division where he researched and prepared reports on cyber security, school safety programs, and Michigan foundations, among other issues.
