Jason Currie concentrates his practice in representing lenders in commercial loan originations.
Mr. Currie’s practice also includes middle market lending, asset based loans, healthcare, educational institution financing, captive insurance financing, real estate financing, aircraft financing, and letters of credit and other liquidity facilities supporting tax exempt and industrial development bonds.
Mr. Currie began his legal career as a member of Bodman’s Banking Practice Group, leaving in 2018 to become an Assistant General Counsel for one of the nation’s largest all-digital bank and industry-leading auto financing businesses. Mr. Currie supported the equipment finance, commercial automotive financing, wholesale remarketing, and third party remarketing divisions. He also served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of a provider of funding and portfolio services to commercial and retail customers and mid-market equipment finance companies, advising on equipment leases, equipment loans, special asset financing transactions, loan and lease sales, and various other projects.
Mr. Currie is past president of the East Michigan Chapter of Risk Management Association, a not-for-profit professional association that works to advance the use of sound risk principles in the financial services industry.
In law school, Mr. Currie was an Assistant Managing Editor of the University of Toledo College of Law Review, a member of the 2010 University of Toledo Criminal Law Moot Court Team, and a member of the American Constitution Society. He was also a Dean’s Scholar and the recipient of the Merit Scholarship.
