Thinking Ahead: What You Should Know About Termination and Reversion of Copyright

By: Bodman PLC

01/09/25

Bodman’s Spencer Darling authored an article in the January 2025 edition of the Michigan Bar Journal, a State Bar of Michigan publication.

The article discusses how attorneys can create business entities for creative clients (referred to throughout this article as “artists” but includes software engineers, architects, songwriters, and other creators) to allow them to license their copyrighted work while preserving § 203 termination rights by structuring the relationship between the artist and their entity in such a way that precludes a work-made-for-hire argument.

You can read Spencer’s article linked here.
