Hannan Center Honors Harvey Berman with Lifetime Achievement Award

Bodman PLC is pleased to share that Harvey W. Berman, chair of the firm’s Construction Practice Group, was recently recognized at the Hannan Center’s 70 Over Seventy Awards Ceremony as a Class of 2024 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award.
For almost 100 years, Hannan Center has been supporting older adults through social services and creative aging and wellness opportunities. The Lifetime Achievement award is given to individuals who have made outstanding and significant contributions to their communities in their lifetime and exemplify aging in a way that others aspire to experience. These awardees continue to participate in new careers, mentorship opportunities, volunteerism, and other impactful endeavors.
Berman, who is based in Bodman’s Ann Arbor office, has been a practicing construction attorney for over 45 years. He concentrates his practice in construction, contracts, real estate and business matters including claims and alternative dispute resolution. He also focuses on “green” building and “lean” construction matters.
In addition to his successful legal practice, Berman has dedicated thousands of hours to a variety of charitable causes, including efforts to support veterans and their families, programs that promote educational opportunities for students interested in construction industry careers, and pro bono representation of nonprofit organizations. He is a director of and legal counsel to Fisher House Michigan, a nonprofit formed to improve the quality of life for families and caregivers of military members and veterans through the construction of comfort homes near VA hospitals. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor and the Ann Arbor Student Building Industry Program. He is a has received the W. Nelson Vander Hyden Award for outstanding service to the construction industry from the Washtenaw Contractors Association and was named Associate of the Year by the Homebuilders Association of Washtenaw County.
