Marketing and Events Coordinator – Detroit Office – Full Time

Summary: Works under the general direction of the Director of Business Development and Marketing and with oversight by other members of the Business Development and Marketing Team. Assists and collaborates with other BD and Marketing personnel in a broad range of external and internal marketing and event planning projects that support Firm goals. Among other areas, projects will involve graphic design, social and print media, photography, video, and the planning and conducting of internal and client events. Participates in the maintenance of the Firm’s CRM system and other marketing databases. With supervision, works directly with individual attorneys, practice groups, and client and industry teams, as necessary. Maintains good working relationships with all firm personnel. Preserves the confidentiality of client and Firm information.

Primary Duties:
  • Graphic Design. Create and edit graphics using InDesign, Photoshop and other software tools as necessary to complete or complement marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Marketing Presentations. Design creative marketing presentations, including PDF and PowerPoint displays.
  • Digital and Social Media Coordination. Post approved social media content across all Firm platforms and accounts. Help assure consistency of social media content and graphics with Firm brand standards. Design and maintain a content calendar for future social and digital media releases. Propose subject matter for future releases.
  • Event Support. With oversight by the Marketing and Event Planning Specialist, assist in the event planning process including venue research, design of invitations, handouts, nametags, flyers, etc., coordinate the sending of invitations and recording of RSVPs, and occasionally providing on-site event support.
  • CRM and List Maintenance. Participate in the maintenance of the Firm’s CRM system; build and maintain distribution and invitation lists as instructed.
  • External Communications. Assist with the dissemination of approved Firm communications, including client alerts, media releases, invitations, and other materials, under the direction of the departmental Specialists and Manager.
  • Internet / Web Site Maintenance. Assist with posting and updating approved content on Bodman’s website, www.bodmanlaw.com.
  • Photography / videography. Take and edit photos and videos in support of social media and graphic design projects.
  • Assist with General Marketing Initiatives. Provide assistance to other Marketing and Business Development Department personnel as needed with other firm events and projects.
  • Complete Special Projects and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure that marketing materials and other communications are consistent with Firm standards for quality and branding.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of client and firm information.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 
  • A four year degree in marketing, communications, business, research or a related field OR a four year degree in an unrelated field in conjunction with relevant work experience (including cooperative education and internship experience) is required.
  • One to three years of prior work experience in marketing, communications, event planning, research or a related field (including relevant co-op and internship experience) is preferred; law firm experience is preferred.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, desktop publishing (Publisher, InDesign), presentation graphics (PowerPoint, Canva), photo editing (Photoshop), and video editing. Knowledge of social media analytics tools is a plus. Knowledge of WordPress is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete them on time.
  • Ability to proofread materials for grammatical and spelling errors.
  • Ability to work more than 35 hours per week when necessary, work irregular hours when necessary, and travel occasionally to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Ability to learn new systems, processes, and techniques as required.
  • Must adhere to all general office rules and procedures.
