Mr. Staple represents business clients in litigation matters at the trial and appellate levels and in other dispute resolution proceedings. His clients have included corporations, financial institutions, insurers, and municipal entities.
He has appeared in courts throughout Michigan and participated in mediation and case evaluation proceedings involving insurance coverage issues, personal injury, fraud, and real estate. He has represented a major title insurance company in claims cases involving mortgage priority disputes, boundary line disputes, and competing ownership claims.
In addition to litigation and dispute resolution, Mr. Staple has experience counseling clients in connection with the purchase and sale of businesses and in commercial and multi-unit residential real estate transactions.
He joined Bodman's Grand Rapids office in June 2018 after practicing for five years with a highly respected business law firm in the Grand Rapids and Battle Creek markets.
While in law school, Mr. Staple served as a research extern with the Michigan Court of Appeals Research Division and as a judicial extern to the 17th Judicial Circuit Court in Grand Rapids. He earned multiple academic awards including the Jurisprudence Achievement Awards for Advanced Legal Research and for Research, Writing and Advocacy II. He was a Dean King Scholar in recognition of high academic achievement and a finalist in the Research, Writing and Advocacy Best Brief Competition. He served as Associate Editor of the Michigan State Law Review.
He was a member of the Battle Creek United Way Fundraising Committee and has volunteered with Spring Into the Arts and Fall Into the Arts in Battle Creek.
