Ms. Baxter-Labut is a member of the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group and Bankruptcy and Debtor-Creditor Rights Practice Group. She concentrates her practice representing clients involved in complex commercial litigation.

Before joining the firm as an associate attorney, Ms. Baxter-Labut spent two summers with Bodman as a law clerk. Before becoming an attorney, she gained diverse business experience through service as a Border Service Officer with the Canada Border Service Agency. In that role, she worked extensively on matters involving Canadian commercial importation and immigration laws, NAFTA, the Canadian Customs Act, and other laws and regulations affecting cross-border commerce. She also worked as a Quality Control Supervisor for Canada’s national statistics agency, Statistics Canada, and as a human resources officer for multiple organizations.

In law school, Ms. Baxter-Labut received numerous academic awards and honors, including the Wayne State Merit Scholarship, the Lloyd Twins for Justice Scholarship, the WLAM Scholarship, the Association of Corporate Counsel Scholarship, the A. Kay Stanfield Spinks Law Scholarship, the Miller Canfield Scholarship, Charles V. Hammond Memorial Scholarship, the Alpert Foundation Annual Scholarship, and the Damon J. Keith Scholarship. She was a member of the Wolverine Bar Association, the Wayne Law Women’s Law Caucus, the Wayne Law Black Law Student Association, the Student Trial Advocacy Program, and Moot Court. She was a winner of Wayne State’s transactional law competition and participated in the corporate counsel externship at Wayne State’s Office of the General Counsel.

Ms. Baxter-Labut is fluent in French. She volunteered as a French interpreter for the Immigration and Asylum Clinic at Wayne State University Law School.
