Ms. Markel is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group. She represents clients involved in complex commercial litigation matters.
Before joining Bodman as an associate attorney, Ms. Markel worked with the firm as a summer associate, gaining exposure to a broad range of clients and legal issues. She has also held the position of judicial intern in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, serving Judge Robert Cleland. Prior to that, Ms. Markel worked as a government relations analyst with a Houston-based LNG export company out of Washington, D.C.
During her time at the University of Michigan, Ms. Markel was active in the law student community. She was associate editor of the Michigan Journal of Gender and Law. She participated in the Campbell Moot Court Competition and several different oral advocacy competitions, including coming in as a quarterfinalist for the University of Michigan’s competition and winning the competition held by the State Bar of Michigan. She was also a member of Law Students for Reproductive Justice, holding the position of Communications Chair.
